Joshua D. Raines

Josh Raines specializes in defending businesses of all sizes in general negligence, premises liability, employment, and business litigation.

Josh is currently serving our nation as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate ("JAG") for the United States Air Force Reserve. In his capacity as a JAG, Josh's primary role is to prosecute felony and misdemeanor crimes, overseeing Court Martial proceedings and leading administrative discharge boards. As an Air Force JAG, he is an expert in the areas of military justice, national security, and international law.

Prior to joining Greene & Roberts LLP, Josh served as a Deputy District Attorney in Northern California, where he prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony crimes. As a criminal prosecutor, he took multiple cases to jury and bench trials and never lost any contested hearings of the dozens he litigated. He also successfully argued in front of the Superior Court's Appellate Division.

Josh obtained his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law. During his time there, he excelled academically and served as an Associate Editor of the California Western Law Review, received the American Jurisprudence Award for Academic Excellence (Highest Grade in Class) in Trial Advocacy and Legal Skills II, and was a Finalist (Distinguished Advocate) for the California Western School of Law Moot Court Honors Board Appellate Competition. During law school, Josh served as a law clerk for the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of California, the Special Prosecutions Division of the California Department of Justice - Office of the Attorney General, and the San Diego City Attorney's Office, Criminal Division.

Prior to being a lawyer, Josh had a successful career in finance, business development, and law enforcement. He is a U.S. Air Force combat veteran who deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004. Josh's unique and diverse background and experience enriches his approach to legal matters and empowers him to provide well-rounded perspectives.

Beyond his professional commitments, Josh loves being outdoors and enjoys sailing, kayaking, biking, and spending quality time with his family.
