Stephen Greene, Jr.

Stephen J. Greene, Jr., is a graduate of the University of San Diego (B.A in International Relations) and University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law (J.D., with distinction, and Traynor Honor Society).  He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in California, in the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.

While in law school, Mr. Greene worked in the California State Assembly, as Assembly Reading Clerk, and then later as legislative staff to Assemblyman Fred Aguiar and Assembly Speaker Curt Pringle.  In 1997, Governor Pete Wilson appointed Mr. Greene as Assistant General Counsel to the California Resources Agency, where he worked on revisions to the Guidelines for implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and provided legal counsel to the Secretary for Resources and other Agency officials on a variety of employment and administrative matters.

Between 1998 and 2004, Mr. Greene practiced law with both local (Kronick Moskovitz) and national (Seyfarth Shaw) law firms, in such varied areas as business law, antitrust, environmental law, class actions, wage-and-hour law, and employment law.  Since joining Greene & Roberts LLP in 2004, Mr. Greene’s primary practice areas have included general civil and employment litigation, religious institutions and First Amendment law, business transactional and litigation issues, education law, and corporate legal practice.  He advises clients regularly on business operation and employment law compliance issues, and represents clients in civil litigation, at both the trial court and appellate levels.

Mr. Greene recently served as President of the Rotary Club of Elk Grove, and is now president of the board of directors for the Rotary Club of Elk Grove Foundation.  He also serves on the board of directors for Capital Public Radio and the Cosumnes Legacy Foundation, and is the membership Vice President for the American River Chorus.  He is a member of the Labor and Employment and Litigation Sections of the California State Bar, the National Diocesan Attorney Association, and the Sacramento County Bar Association.
